Zero Water at Walmart?
I was wandering through wallyworld yesterday and stumbled on this... What interests me in one of these compared to a Berkey is that I can use my existing water cooler, and not have double the room taken up if I want a refrigerated cooler.
Anyone know anything about them? Any chance they're even in the same league as a Berkey? The weird thing that sticks out is I cant see any cartridge life anywhere except referencing their little pitcher unit, and it only shows 22 gallons?! Im assuming thats not accurate or theres more to that story! Thanks! http://www.zerowater.com/Shop/Products.aspx?ID=2 http://www.zerowater.com/images/Prod...Cooler_1-2.jpg |

It doesn't say anything about bacteria removal or anything like that. I purchased a bunch of the royal doulton Supersterasyl filter candles. I was going to make my own filter with a couple 5 gal buckets. You wouldn't beleive but I could not find the buckets. Eventually I found someone in Australia (qld) who sells the brittish berkey so I pulled the trigger and bought one. I am happy I did. I have to say the water tastes remarkable. I have not tasted anything like it before from the tap, rainfall or out of a bottle. We have filtered water at work and it tastes bettter than that. Our tap water is heavily chlorinated to the point it smells like swimming pool water. I cooked vegatables and noodles with the water the 1st night and was just blown away by the flavour in the food. I thought my food was already tasty. Nuhuh. I got a standard size one which probably holds about 8 or 9 liters. The top section can be turned upside down and slides into the bottom section for storage or transporting. I fill a couple liter water bottle and keep that in the fridge. The berkey is good, but the filters are the key IMO. |
Re: Zero Water at Walmart?
Fair enough. I hear what you're saying about wally, and the price seems a bit low for a 'good' unit.
I just wish Berkey would make a similar in-the-cooler type package.. would make it much more acceptable to the Mrs. |

Chinaworld -
Replete with knockoffs, and Dangerously incomplete technology. I'll take my chances with the original manufacturers. scyth |

Makybe these will fit the bill in terms of replacement filters for the zero water ones. http://www.bigbrandwater.com/doultons.html These are steracyl but they are not candles. They look like they are more suited to that type of filter system. hmmmm not sure now I am reading the zerowater replacement filter information. |

Re: Zero Water at Walmart?
[QUOTE=ImaCannin;1844653]So why dont you go to home depot and get a water dispenser , a couple of 3 or 5 gallon bottles, then filter your water with berkey and pour it in the 3 or 5 gallon jug then put it on the water dispenser???
 Yeah, thats the best option at the moment, but the mrs really doesnt want both contraptions around / near our small kitchen and pantry. The cooler is already in the pantry bc of room. Currently were hauling 15 - 20 gal. / week from the neighborhood water store / RO system.... |
